New England Complex Systems Institute

The New England Complex Systems Institute (NECSI) is an independent research and educational institution based in Cambridge, Massachusetts .

In addition to the in-house researchers, the NECSI shares lecturers and students with neighboring elite universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University , Brandeis University and other universities around the world.

The NECSI was founded in 1996 and is dedicated to the research of complex systems .

In the German-speaking area, the prognosis of the Arab Spring , which the researchers attributed primarily to the repeated rise in food prices in the region following the deregulation of the raw materials market , and the increasing segregation of eligible voters around the 2016 US presidential elections were among the media-effective .

In addition, the institute offers certificate courses for professionals and students, which either focus on application-oriented, delimited subject areas or the basics of modeling and data analysis. The lecturers included Alex Pentland and Stephen Wolfram on several occasions .
