List of breeds of chicken |
New Hampshire is a medium-weight domestic chicken breed .
A large rooster can weigh 3 to 3.5 kg, the hens only weigh about 2.5 to 3 kg. They are brown in color, their tail is iridescent blue-green, and their legs (legs) are yellow. The roosters usually have a very large comb and long lobes. Under optimal conditions, New Hampshire chickens lay around 250 eggs in the first year and only around 180 eggs in the second year.
New Hampshire are easy to care for, very trusting and of calm demeanor, especially if you have been around them since hatching. They hardly fly either. The eggs are ideal for artificial brood and thus enable regular breeding successes.
The breed comes from the US state of New Hampshire and was bred there from the Rhode countries at the beginning of the 20th century . These in turn come from crosses of the Red Malay fighter with other Asian pedigree chickens. The New Hampshire became known in Germany in the 1950s, robustness and economy played a major role.
The existing recognized breed of dwarf New Hampshire bantam has widespread worldwide distribution.
