The two BL 6 inch gun Mk VII guns were replaced in 1941 by a battery with 6 inch Mk 24 guns west of the fortress, which were specially developed for coastal protection.
The fort was abandoned by the army in 1962. In 1982 the restoration of the fort began and the armament from the period from 1906 to 1941 was restored.
