Nez Rouge

Nez Rouge is a foundation in Switzerland with the aim of reducing the number of road accidents due to alcohol, drug and medication consumption as well as fatigue. For this purpose, she drives the vehicles of unfit drivers home free of charge during the festive season.

The service is provided by volunteers, with each assignment being taken on by three volunteers: one drives the customer's vehicle, one drives the Nez Rouge vehicle to the place of departure, follows the customer's vehicle and takes the employees back to the headquarters, the third drives the customer's vehicle and takes on support or supervision tasks. In 2006, 11,768 trips were made in Switzerland and 674 in France.

The idea of ​​Nez Rouge comes from Québec , where such actions were first carried out in 1984. In Switzerland, the first action took place in 1990 in the canton of Jura . In 1991 the Nez Rouge association was founded, which was replaced in 1993 by the present foundation. One of the partners of Nez Rouge is the Federal Office of Public Health .
