Sakya Founding Fathers

The Ngor tradition ( Tib . Ngor pa ) denotes a sub-school of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . The Sakya tradition, which originated in the 11th century, is one of the four great Buddhist traditions ( Nyingma , Kagyu , Sakya and Gelug ) in Tibet .

founding

The Ngor tradition was founded by the first "Abbot of Ngor" (Tib .: ngor mkhan chen ) Künga Sangpo (1382-1456) with the establishment of the monastery Ngor Ewam Chöden in 1429 in Tibet. This monastery became a major center of tradition alongside the ancestral monastery of the Sakya lineage . The Ngorpa had close ties to Nepal, wrote numerous works on all areas of knowledge of the time, and continued the tantric tradition of the Sakya lineage. The Hevajra tantra and the Lamdre teachings (path and fruit) play an important role in this tradition.

Luding Khen Rinpoche

The current head of the school is the Abbot of Ngor Luding Khen Rinpoche . The Lama Phende Rinpoche is another important teacher of the Ngor tradition who also teaches in Europe.
