Master Nguyễn Đức Mộc (* 1913 in the district of Thôn Bô Son, in the province of Bac Ninh (today "Ha Bac") on the hills "Son Hoan Long" in northern Vietnam ; † May 5, 2009 ) was the founder of the Vietnamese martial art Vo Vietnam .

Childhood and youth

In 1919, at the age of 6, his father began to teach him martial arts, then his uncle to teach him Vô Thuât Gia Truyên (traditional family martial arts) and Vô Nghe (military arts, strategy ). Together with his brother, they were responsible for defending the village against invading looters.

In 1929, at the age of 16, the wandering monk Hoang Hao Ba from the South Chinese monastery of Ma Duong Cuong accepted him as a student. He taught Nguyễn Đức Mộc Vô Cong Bi Truyên, the secret martial arts techniques of the monastery.

In the following years he was able to try out the theories and practices he had learned in many fights.

Development of the Võ Vietnam

In 1938 he was 26 years old. He was obliged to fight for the French colonial army in the Middle East, Congo ( Africa ), Syria and Lebanon.

From 1947 he worked for Renault in a factory in Boulogne-Billancourt . Due to racist hostility, a scandal broke out one day while at work, in which Đức Mộc was forced to defend himself. His work colleagues then asked him to teach them in Vô Viêtnam. He agreed, mainly to improve the reputation of his country of origin Vietnam.

Later he also had students who did not work in the factory. In 1956 the training was relocated to the Boulogne-sur-Seine Youth and Culture Center. He founded the "Son Long Quyên Thuat Vô Viêtnam" school, named after the "mountain of the dragon" where he grew up.

In 1983 he and 22 other members presented Võ Vietnam in Vietnam as part of a cultural and sports exchange. A second trip followed in 1989.

Today there are Võ Vietnam schools in France, Switzerland, Algeria, Burkina Faso and Austria with a total of several thousand students.
