The Nicholas Range is a mountain range of rocky mountain peaks in the East Antarctic Enderbyland . It extends in a north-south orientation east of Aker Peaks and 37 km southwest of Magnet Bay .
It was discovered in January 1930 by participants in the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . Mawson named him after the Australian pharmaceutical entrepreneur George Richard Rich Nicholas (1884-1960), a sponsor of the expedition. The individual peaks were mapped by Norwegian cartographers using aerial photos taken during the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 .
