Nicholas Royle (literary scholar)
Nicholas WO Royle (born April 10, 1957 in London ) is a British literary scholar and writer.
Life
Royle studied at Exeter College Oxford , he received his doctorate in 1984 with a dissertation on the poet Wallace Stevens . He worked at the University of Oxford from 1981 to 1987 , then at the University of Tampere until 1992 and then at the University of Stirling . Since 1999 he has been Professor of English at the University of Sussex , where he created the Center for Creative and Critical Thought.
Royle works with Andrew Bennett , they wrote a study of Elizabeth Bowen's novels and an introduction to literary theory. He has been writing for the Oxford Literary Review since 1970 and later became an associate editor.
Royle is an expert on the work of Jacques Derrida , on whom he published a monograph in 2003. Royle wrote a "User Guide" for the deconstruction .
Royle has published two novels (as of 2017).
