Nick Johnston is a Scottish Conservative Party politician .

Johnston ran in the 1999 general election as a Conservative Party candidate for the constituency of Ochil . He received 4,151 votes (11.3%), placing him in third place behind George Reid of the SNP and the winner of the constituency Richard Simpson of the Labor Party . Due to the election result, Johnston moved into the newly created parliament as one of three list candidates for the Conservative Party for the electoral region of Mid Scotland and Fife .

After Johnston had stayed away from Parliament since the beginning of 2001 for health reasons, he announced his resignation in the middle of the year. In addition to health reasons, Johnston's disillusionment with the Scottish Parliament is said to have played a role in the resignation. His successor was Murdo Fraser .
