Nick Varner (born May 15, 1948 in Owensboro , Kentucky ) is an American pool player .

Nick Varner is considered one of the best all-around players of all time. He won world championship titles in all pool disciplines (8-ball, 9-ball, 14-1, one-pocket and banks).

His greatest successes so far were winning the 9-Ball World Cup in 1999 and the US Open (9-Ball) in 1989 and 1990. He also represented Team USA six times at the Mosconi Cup ; three times as a non-playing team captain.

He has been a member of the Hall of Fame of the Billiard Congress of America since 1992 .

His nickname in the billiards scene is Kentucky Colonel . It uses Queues the company Meucci .
