Nick Wieland

Nick Wieland (born March 30, 1988 ) is a former German football player .

career

In 2008 Wieland played for the Hamburg Blue Devils in the football Bundesliga , in 2009 he joined the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes .

In 2010, Wieland , who measured 1.90 meters and was deployed in the left tackle position, became German champions with Kiel, and in 2009, 2011 and 2012 there was the runner-up championship.

With the German national team, Wieland finished fifth in the 2011 World Cup and was voted into the selection of the best players in the tournament.

Wieland switched back to the Hamburg Blue Devils, for whom he appeared in the 2013 season. The Hamburg head coach Maximilian von Garnier said in 2013 that Wieland was "one of the best line players in Germany, if not Europe". In 2014 Wieland wore the colors of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes again.

In 2014 he suffered a double cruciate ligament tear in his knee. Wieland, who works full time in the Hamburg Ministry of the Interior and Sport , switched to the coaching field and took over as assistant coach in December 2014, taking care of the Kiel Offensive Line . He was suspended in the 2019 season, and returned to the team's coaching team in November 2019.
