Nickelin (alloy)
As Nickelin a is copper - alloy with a proportion of 30% nickel and 3% manganese , respectively. The technical abbreviation is CuNi30Mn. Isabellin is closely related . Occasionally, German silver is also referred to as nickeline, albeit incorrectly.
Nickelin has a melting point of 1180 ° C., a density of 8800 kg / m 3 (8.8 g / cm 3 ) and a tensile strength of 400 MPa (standard temperature, soft-annealed).
Due to its special resistance to corrosion and scaling , a relatively low specific electrical resistance and a low temperature coefficient of the same, nickel is mainly used in the field of electrical engineering , where it is used in the form of wires, strips and sheets to create resistances of all kinds and as a heat conductor alloy to heat cables or heating wires is processed.
