Nico Steinbach (born February 28, 1984 in Bitburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Life

After completing secondary school, Nico Steinbach completed an apprenticeship as a banker and worked in his profession until 2014.

He has been a member of the SPD since 2001. Since 2004 he has been a member of the local council and since 2008 mayor of Oberweiler . He has been a member of the Verbandsgemeinderat of the Verbandsgemeinde Bitburger Land and the district council of the Eifelkreis since 2009. Steinbach has also been chairman of the SPD in the Eifel district since 2013.

On January 1, 2015, he replaced the resigned MP Monika Fink in the state parliament . In the state elections in 2016 , he was directly elected to the state parliament in the Bitburg-Prüm constituency. There he is Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Viticulture and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Environment, Energy, Food and Forestry.
