The Nicoamen River is a 20 km long left tributary of the Thompson River in the southern Canadian province of British Columbia .
River course
The Nicoamen River has its source in the Northern Cascade Range southwest of the 2043 m high Zakwaski Mountain . It flows in a predominantly northerly direction through the extreme north of the Northern Cascade Range. It finally flows into the Thompson River, about 15 km above its mouth in the Fraser River at Lytton .
history
The confluence of the Nicoamen in the Thompson is the site of one of the events that triggered the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush of 1858-1860, when the Nlaka'pamux of this region and white gold prospectors met for a palaver .
