Nicolai Herlofson

Nicolai Herlofson (born August 25, 1916 in Oslo , † March 14, 2004 in Stockholm ) was a Norwegian researcher in the field of geophysics .

Herlofson was a grandson of the banker and shipowner Axel Nicolai Herlofson . In the 1940s he worked closely with the later Nobel Prize winner Hannes Alfvén . Herlofson worked at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm from 1951 and was later also a professor there. Herlofson was Secretary General of the International Science Council from 1958 .
