Nicolai Iversen

Nicolai Iversen (born January 27, 1980 in Egå ) is a former Danish basketball player . The 2.05 meter tall winger has won the Danish championship eight times. His international positions included Basket-Club Boncourt , SV 03 Tübingen and USC Heidelberg .

career

Iversen first played as a youth at Hjortshøj-Egå Idrætsforening and made his debut in the Danish first league (Basketligaen) in the 2000/01 season at Aabyhøj IF. In 2001/02 he played at San Jose City College in the United States , in the 2002/03 season with the Bakken Bears in his home country, followed by positions in various European countries: Germany ( SV 03 Tübingen ; 2003/04), Spain ( Alcudia Aracena; 2004), Belgium (Verviers-Pepinster; 2004), again Germany ( USC Heidelberg ; 2005), Hungary (Gunaras KC Dombovar; 2005/06) and Switzerland ( Basket-Club Boncourt ; 2006).

During the 2006/07 season he returned to the Bakken Bears and initially played for the team until the end of the 2007/08 season. Iversen moved to Italy , where he played for the second division Aget Imola in the 2008/09 season. From 2009 to 2011 he was in the service of the Svendborg Rabbits before going back to league rivals Bakken. Iversen played there until the end of his career in spring 2018. With Bakken he also played in several European club competitions.

Iversen was eight times Danish champion (seven times with Bakken, once with Svendborg) and four times Danish cup winner. In the 2007/08, 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2012/13 seasons he was named the best Danish player in the basketball league by the internet basketball service eurobasket.com . In 2010/11 he was voted Player of the Year by the Basketligaen after scoring 19.1 points per game in the Danish league, which was his Basketligaen career high.

Iversen was the captain of the Danish national team for many years.

After the end of his playing career Iversen became a coach at Lystrup IF.
