Nicolas-Francisque Caroubel (born August 20, 1594 in Paris , † after 1657 there) was a French violinist.

Life

Nicolas-Francisque Caroubel was a son of Pierre-Francisque Caroubel . He began his career as a freelance musician and was referred to as Maistre Joueur d'Instruments . In 1613 he founded an ensemble with other musicians. In 1624, through his mother's mediation, he received his father's previous post as Violon Ordinaire de la Chambre du Roi . In April 1625 he became a member of the Vingt-quatre Violons du Roy . In 1642 he was still in the service of King Louis XIII. when he and 12 other members of the Vingt-quatre Violons formed an ensemble that gave royal concerts every Saturday afternoon at the Palais du Louvre or the Hôtel du Petit-Bourbon . In 1631 he was elected as one of the governors of the St. Julien des ménétriers musicians' guild , which organized freelance musicians and dancers. This activity did not have a negative impact on his activities at court, because from 1653 he was promoted to royal valet. In 1657 he was still listed in the court books in this capacity.
