Nicolas Beaurain
Nicolas Beaurain was a French glass painter of the Renaissance . He was the "Maître-verrier royal" (royal glass painter) of the French King Francis I , as the successor to Jean Chastellain .
Nothing is known about the life of Nicolas Beaurain. His main work, which has been preserved to this day, are the stained glass windows in the Sainte Chapelle (castle chapel) of the castle of Vincennes , which he created in 1555/56. The pane with the portrait of Franz I kneeling in the palace chapel is now in the Musée national de la Renaissance in the Écouen palace .
