Nicolas Florentin (born February 16, 1978 in Pont-à-Mousson ) is a former French football player .

Career

Florentin began his professional career at AS Nancy , where he was in the squad of the first division team from 1996. However, he had to wait until the 1997/98 season for his debut and completed it after Nancy's relegation in the second division. This was his only use in a season, at the end of which he and his team reached the second division championship and the associated promotion. In the following year and a half of first class Florentin did not get beyond two contested games, so he was loaned to third division AS Beauvais in December 1999 .

At Beauvais, he hardly played at first, but then became a regular player when the team made it to the second division in 2000. In 2001 he returned to the meanwhile second class Nancy and got a regular place there too. He lost this when he moved to the first division club ES Troyes AC in 2002 . With Troyes, Florentin rose in 2003 and rose again in 2005 and never reached a regular place.

It was only when he moved to SM Caen in 2005 after being promoted to Troyes that he was back in the first team. After he reached the top French league with Caen in 2007, he spent the only two years of his career in which he was a regular in the first division. In the summer of 2009 he suffered two setbacks because Caen was relegated to the second division and he injured himself seriously in the course of preparing for the new season. Florentin, who wanted to change anyway because coach Franck Dumas did not continue to bet on him, never appeared for Caen and signed with SCO Angers in 2010 . With only nine appearances in two years, the contract was not renewed in 2012 and Florentin ended his active career at the age of 34, in which he had played 75 first and 165 second division games in France. Immediately after his footballing career, he was hired as a youth coach at his ex-club Nancy in July 2012.
