features

Users can upload, watch and distribute videos. Unlike on other video sites, comments are shown directly in the videos. Whoever writes a comment can also determine when, where and how it is displayed. This makes it easier to fix comments on certain points in a video. Niconico's atmosphere is like the 2channel and Futaba channels and many popular videos are otaku- influenced, such as anime , computer games, Odorite and J-Pop . In addition to the uploader, videos can also be changed by other users. Each video can have up to 10 tags, up to 5 of which are defined by the uploader and blocked for editing.

Since July 5th, 2008, the videos can be encoded with high resolution with H.264 and the sound with AAC . The uploader of a video can insert comments into the video himself, for subtitles, song texts or corrections. The uploader can also insert Nicoscript commands in his comments , such as votes or quizzes.
