Dutch crown jewels

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dutch Crown Jewels are the insignia of the Dutch monarchy .

Compared to other European monarchies, the Dutch Crown Jewels are relatively new and were made for King Wilhelm II in 1840. An earlier silver collection was commissioned by King Wilhelm I in 1815 .

description

The insignia of the Dutch monarchy consist of the following items:

Both the scepter and the imperial orb were made by the Meijer jeweler from The Hague.

  • the sword
  • the Gonfanon of the Netherlands ( Rijksvaandel or Rijksbanier ), a banner made of white moiré silk depicting a gilded spear with the coat of arms of the Netherlands from 1815 (the coat of arms has changed over the years, but the gonfanon has remained unchanged). The Gonfanon was made by Bartholomeüs Johannes von Hove

During the coronation ceremonies of all Dutch kings and queens, the royal insignia was placed on a table in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam . Only the gonfanon of the Netherlands and the sword were carried from the Nieuwe Kerk to the Paleis op de Dam in Amsterdam during the procession .

More jewelry from the royal family

In addition to these regalia of the Netherlands, the royal house of the Netherlands, the House of Orange and Nassau , owns other jewels and pieces of jewelry, but these are not insignia.
