The coat of arms of the Netherlands ( Grote Rijkswapen - Großes Reichswappen ) is the coat of arms of the monarch Willem-Alexander .

“In blue, studded with golden shingles , a gold-crowned, red- armored and red- tongued golden lion , in the right a gold-tipped silver sword, in the left holding a bundle of seven gold-tipped and feathered silver arrows." ,, down with gold leaf, also trimmed with silver pearls finished at the top with blue, golden-tired and just crossed orb royal crown adorned the crown ring with colored stones, the shield held by two rotbewehrten and rotgezungten golden lion on a blue ribbon standing with the French motto in gold letters:

The coat of arms is surrounded by a red and hermeline royal cloak , forming a pavilion at the top and the royal crown on top.

The royal decree stipulates that a male heir to the throne can replace the crown on the shield with a helmet from Nassau .

history

The coat of arms was by decree of King Wilhelm I of 24. August 1815 at the founding of the Kingdom of the Netherlands introduced. The seven arrows in the shield represent the seven provinces of the Union of Utrecht .

It is a combination of the coat of arms of Orange-Nassau and Holland .

The government of the Netherlands uses a smaller version without the coat and pavilion - sometimes even just the shield with the crown is used. The components of the coat of arms were laid down by Queen Wilhelmina in a decree of July 10, 1907 and confirmed by Queen Juliana in a decree of April 23, 1980 .
