Details |
The coat of arms of Slovenia has existed since 1991 and was designed by the sculptor Marko Pogačnik .
description
In blue, two blue waves cut three silver mountain peaks, the middle of which is the higher, and three gold six-pointed stars (2; 1) hover over these peaks.
symbolism
On a blue background (for the Slovenian seaside ), the mountain peaks stand for Triglav in the Julian Alps , the two blue wavy lines symbolize the Adriatic Sea and the rivers of Slovenia, and the three gold-colored stars come from the coat of arms of the Counts of Cilli ( Celje ) .
The coat of arms symbolizes the historical landscapes of Slovenia: Carniola , Lower Styria and the coastal region .
The three golden - but six-pointed - stars on a blue background are a modification of the coat of arms of the Counts of Heunburg / Vovbržani (also Vovbrški) (eight-pointed stars). The family died out in 1322 and was inherited by the Sanneckers ( Žovenski or Zaneški ), the later counts and princes of Cilli ( Celjski Grofje ), who added the Heunburg coat of arms to their coat of arms - three red bars on a silver background .
