history

A first version of this coat of arms was known as early as 1827 . The coat of arms was then a symbol of the struggles for freedom that led to Greece's independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1830 . Above the version of the coat of arms under the rule of King Otto (1833–1862) is the crown of the Kingdom of Bavaria . After the arrival of the Glücksburger in Greece, the Danish crown of Christian V was placed over the modified version of the coat of arms .
