Marko Pogačnik (born August 11, 1944 in Kranj , Slovenia ) is a Slovenian sculptor, land artist, geomancer and author.

Life

Pogačnik studied sculpture at the Ljubljana Art Academy , which he graduated in 1967. From 1965 to 1971 he worked as a member of the international artist group OHO in the areas of conceptual art and land art. In 1971, he and his family and friends founded a community and artist community, the "Sempas Family" in Sempas, Slovenia, which existed until 1979. From the mid-1980s he developed "lithopuncture", a method based on acupuncture for healing and balancing places and landscapes. Since then he has carried out projects to heal the natural and urban landscape by setting stones, for example in the Türnich Castle Park , near Cappenberg and the Geomantic Path in Bad Blumau in Styria . He performed other lithopunctures along the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland near Londonderry and in Salzburg.

In 1991 he was given the task of designing the Slovenian national coat of arms .
