history

The building was first mentioned in 1272 as a branch church of the parish Keutschach . In 1775, the abbot of the Cistercian monastery Viktring rebuilt the old church in a simple baroque style. Since 1784 it has belonged to the parish of Sankt Egyden . Saint Lucia is the patroness of the eye sufferers and is a martyr from Sicily at the end of the 3rd century. Saint Rupert is the patron saint of mining and salt workers, was Bishop of Worms and the founder of the Abbey of Saint Peter in Salzburg at the end of the 7th century.

Building

The small single-nave building has a round choir closure. A small sacristy is built on the south side . The squat western vestibule tower with a pyramid roof is open on the ground floor with arcades. With the exception of the tower, the building is clapboard. Inside, the nave and choir have barrel vaults with arches on pilasters. The parapet of the wooden west gallery is decorated with stencil painting; Furthermore, three medallions are attached: on the left with the representation of the old church, on the right the new one, in the middle with the reference to Abbot Bernardus as builder and sponsor and the year 1770 (MDCCLXVV).

Facility

In addition to the high altar, the simple, late baroque furnishings include two side altars. The pulpit can be reached from the sacristy . Paintings of Saints Lucia, Dionysios and Clemens hang in the choir . Behind the high altar is an old, open confessional.

Hike

A marked circular hiking trail " Places of Power " leads from the Rupertiberg branch church through the Rupertitor, past a lithopuncture by Marko Pogačnik , to the rocky promontory, the "Devil's Pulpit " Racava , and to the Saligen seats.
