Niederrheinischer Künstlerbund

The Niederrheinischer Künstlerbund was founded in 1936 by Hanns Lamers and Walther Brüx in Kleve as "Künstlergilde Profil" and continued under the name of "Niederrheinischer Künstlerbund" from 1947.

The Künstlerbund continued a tradition that had been kept alive since Barend Cornelis Koekkoek founded the painter's academy in Kleve in 1841: the union of a large number of artists, some of whom were at home, some of whom were attracted by the landscape and fluidity of the Lower Rhine .

Hanns Lamers died in 1966. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the artists' association, Walther Brüx organized a complete exhibition in 1996. In his exhibition catalog from 1966, “Art on the Lower Rhine since 1900”, he listed the members, sorted by year of birth:
