Nigel Harris

Nigel Harris (* 1935 ) is a British economist . His specialty is the economics of metropolitan areas. He is Professor Emeritus of Urban Economics at University College London . He is also a senior policy advisor at a think tank , the European Policy Center in Brussels , on the subject of international migration.

He received his BA and MA in philosophy, politics and economics in 1959 and 1962, respectively, and his Ph.D. (Thesis: The Economic and Industrial Policies of the British Conservative Party , 1945-1964 ), in 1963, at the London School of Economics and Political Science .

Harris was at times a senior member of the British Socialist Workers Party and published its printed work International Socialism .

Most recently he worked largely for the World Bank . He achieved public notoriety in the UK for his advocacy and defense of immigration , in works such as Thinking the Unthinkable: The Immigration Myth Exposed (2001), and he is currently a member of the Royal Society of Arts' migration committee .
