Nigel Henbest

Nigel Henbest (born May 6, 1951 , Manchester ) is a British astronomer , space physicist and specialist television commentator. He has authored several hundred specialist articles and over 30 popular science books on astronomy and space sciences, mostly together with Heather Couper .

He also worked for the British Astronomical Association and as a media consultant for the Greenwich Observatory.

The asteroid 3795 Nigel was named after Herbest in recognition of his educational activities for the public .

Most recently he gave in 2014 together with Heather Couper, Robert Dinwiddie et al. published a book on planetology that was published in 2015 under the title The Planets. A journey through our solar system. appeared in German translation.
