Nihon Densan Sankyō KK ( Japanese 日本 電 産 サ ン キ ョ ー 株式会社 , Nihon Densan Sankyō Kabushiki kaisha , English Nidec Sankyo Corporation ) is an ISO-9001: 2000 - certified , worldwide operating manufacturer of industrial robots , electric motors , card readers. , Sensors and gaming devices . The company is based in Shimosuwa in the Japanese prefecture of Nagano .

history

The company was founded as KK Sankyō Seiki Seisakujo ( 株式会社 三 協 精 機 製作 所 , German "Precision Machine Manufacturing Sankyō", English Sankyo Seiki Mfg. Co., Ltd. ) in Japan in 1946. On October 1, 2003 Nihon rose Densan KK ( 日本 電 産 株式会社 , Nihon Densan Kabushiki-gaisha , Eng. Nidec Corporation ) into the company and today owns 53.93% of the shares. On October 1, 2005 the name was changed to the current one. The company employs around 16,000 people worldwide (as of March 2006).

Products

Industrial robots

The company Nidec Sankyo produces, among other things, robots for semiconductor production . This includes the handling of wafers and substrates for LCD screens . There is also a wide range of standard systems, especially different types of SCARA robots.

Music boxes

According to its own information, the company is the largest producer of music boxes in Japan.

Trivia

The Japanese word 三 共, Sankyō, means "the / the / the third" in German. Music boxes are named Sankyō.
