Austrian Society for Pre- and Perinatal Medicine

The Austrian Society for Pre- and Perinatal Medicine (ÖGfPPM) is an association established on May 8, 1973 for the purpose of promoting scientific research in the field of pre- and perinatal medicine , the dissemination of knowledge for the well-being of pregnant women and their child and the enforcement of pre- and perinatological needs was officially founded.

The founding fathers were the obstetrician Kurt Baumgarten , the neonatologist Otto Thalhammer and the anesthetist Otto Mayrhofer-Krammel (all Vienna). Until his retirement, the patron and head of the house was Hugo Husslein (1908–1985), the board of the II. University Women's Clinic in Vienna .

The president of the society is Ursula Kiechl-Kohlendorfer, neonatologist at the Medical University of Innsbruck.

After pediatric surgery emerged as an independent discipline in Austria in 1994 , the topic-related issues of this subject are now also represented by the ÖGfPPM.
