Niklaus Bleiker

Niklaus Bleiker (born December 10, 1953 ; resident in Nesslau ) is a politician ( CVP ) of the Swiss canton of Obwalden .

Life

Bleiker ran a bank in Alpnach and was elected to the government council in 2004. He headed the Department of Economics and deputy head of the Finance Department. In the years 2008/2009, 2011/2012 and 2015/2016 he was Landammann of the canton of Obwalden and in the years 2014/2015, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 he was governor . At the end of the 2017/2018 legislative period, he resigned from the Obwalden government council.

One of the focal points of his tenure as government councilor was the realignment of the location promotion. In addition, Bleiker was a co-founder of the Micropark Pilatus and the Tüftelpark. He played a key role in the professionalization of tourism in the Sarneraatal with Obwalden Tourismus AG.
