Nikolai Liliew ( Bulgarian Николай Лилиев , born Николай Михайлов Попиванов ( Nikolai Michajlow Popiwanow ); born May 26, 1885 in Stara Sagora ; †  October 6, 1960 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian symbolist poet.

Liliew was originally a civil servant teacher at grammar schools and universities and from 1924 to 1928 and from 1934 to the end of his life dramaturge at the National Theater in Sofia.

From 1935 he published no more poems. The texts he had published up to then made him one of the most important Bulgarian poets of symbolism. His poems were praised as "extraordinarily melodic and linguistically masterfully designed".
