Muchin has painted numerous churches in the USA, Croatia, Serbia, Japan and Russia. His frescoes, completed in 2007 in the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Zagreb, were badly damaged by the 2020 Zagreb earthquake on March 22, 2020 . Since 2014 he has been working on the mosaic work in the Cathedral of Saint Sava, which has been realized since 2017. Due to the high material costs (1 m² mosaic = 600 dollars), the work could only be carried out with grants from the Russian state. With costs of around 50 million euros, the work on the interior design accounts for around half of the total cost of the building.

Muchin was certified in his competition project that the artist: "a specific iconography that goes back to Byzantine and Serbian art and creates compositions that are a reinvention of the interior of a modern church building".

In addition to the mosaic work, Muchin designed a bronze chandelier with a diameter of 20 m and a weight of 14 tons for the St. Sava Cathedral . Until October 2020 this will be suspended from 12 pull ropes in the room under the dome at a height of 7.5 m above the church floor. When it is completed, it will be the largest wheel chandelier in the world. Muchin analyzed three variants of 30, 25 and 20 m diameter in the spatial effect, whereby he and his team decided on the smallest as the most suitable.
