Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Zizin

Nikolai Vasilyevich Zizin ( Russian Николай Васильевич Цицин ; born December 6 . Jul / 18 December 1898 greg. In Saratov ; † 17th July 1980 in Moscow ) was a Russian and Soviet biologist and botanist . Its botanical author abbreviation is " Tsitsin ".

From 1945 until his death, Zizin was first director of the Moscow Botanical Garden, which is now named after him, for thirty-five years .

His main areas of research were the breeding of new types of grain to increase yields and general research into longevity and life extension in humans.

Zizin was a member of several scientific academies, holder of numerous Soviet medals and deputies in the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in the legislative periods 1938-1946, 1950-1954 and 1954-1958.
