Nikolas Stihl

Nikolas Stihl (born May 22, 1960 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German entrepreneur. Since 2012 he has taken over the chairmanship of the advisory board of Stihl Holding AG & Co. KG and the supervisory board of Stihl AG from his father, Hans Peter Stihl . This means that the most important decision-making bodies at Stihl and strategic management remain in the hands of the Stihl family.

Life

Nikolas Stihl studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart from 1980 to 1988 and graduated with a degree in engineering. In 1997 he received his doctorate from the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering at the Technical University of Chemnitz . He gained his first practical experience as an engineer at Mercedes-Benz AG and as a management consultant.

Stihl joined the Stihl Group in 1992 as an assistant to the management. A little later, he was in charge of product management for the chainsaw business at the largest foreign company, Stihl Incorporated, Virginia Beach / USA. In 1993 he took over the management of Viking GmbH based in Langkampfen / Austria. In his function as managing director of a manufacturer of garden tools, he was President of the European Garden Machinery Industry Federation (EGMF), Brussels, from 2002 to 2006. In 2011 he stepped down from the management team at Viking to take over the chairmanship of the holding advisory board of Stihl and the chairmanship of the supervisory board of Stihl AG.

Awards

As a board member of the Chamber of Commerce Germany, Switzerland / Liechtenstein, Zurich, Nikolas Stihl is committed to promoting economic relations between the countries. In October 2012 he was awarded the Tyrolean Eagle Order in gold for his work as managing director of Viking .
