Mor Nikolaus Matti Abdalahad ( Aramaic ܡܪܝ ܢܝܩܘܠܐܘܣ ܡܬܝ ܥܒܕܐܠܚܕ; * April 6, 1970 in al-Malikiya , Syria ; born as Matti Abdalahad ) is a Syrian clergyman and patriarchal vicar of the Syrian Orthodox Diocese of Spain .

Life

education

Nikolaus Matti Abdalahad began his religious studies at the St. Ephrem Monastery Seminary in Ma'arat Saydnaya , where he graduated. He was ordained a monk in 1991 and a priest in 1994 . A few years later Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I. Iwas sent him to Greece so that he could continue his theology studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens .

Monastery director and bishop

After graduating in 1997, he returned to the St. Ephrem seminary, where he was appointed director of the monastery. In 1998 he was appointed a member of the Supreme Council of the Syrian Orthodox Church in Damascus . A year later he received a cross from the Patriarch as an honor and a blessing. In October 2004 he was sent to Argentina as a patriarchal administrator . Abdalahad was ordained bishop for the diocese of Argentina on April 17, 2005 by Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I. Iwas and also took the name Nicholas. In 2015, Patriarch Ignatius Ephrem II Karim appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Spain. His successor in Argentina was Chrysostom John Ghassali .
