Nikolaus "Niko" Resch (born August 30, 1984 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian sailor .

Sailing career

Resch was since 1999 the foredeck of Nico Delle Karth ; Since 2001, the two have been sailing in the Olympic 49er class. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Delle Karth and Resch took tenth place. In 2007, the two won the silver medal at the World Championships in Cascais.

In their second Olympic participation in 2008 off Qingdao , the two achieved eighth place. The following year they finished fifth at the World Championships on Lake Garda.

In 2012 at the Olympic Games in London and in 2014 at the World Championships in Santander, Delle Karth and Resch took fourth place each.

Almost nine years after the Cascais silver medal, the two won another World Championship silver medal in front of Clearwater in Florida in February 2016. The best result at the European Championships was the bronze medal in 2009, in 2008, 2010 and 2011 the two took fourth place.

In March 2017 the team Nico Delle Karth / Nikolaus Resch split up.

The 1.88 m tall Nikolaus Resch starts for the Yacht Club Velden from Velden am Wörther See .
