Nico Luca Marc Delle Karth (born January 21, 1984 in Rum , Tyrol ) is an Austrian sailor . His father Werner Delle Karth was vice world champion in the four-man bobsleigh in 1973.

Sailing career

In 1990 Nico Delle Karth started sailing in the Optimist class. In 1991 he first took part in an international regatta in Portorož . He achieved his first victory in 1993 at the Vorarlberg Championships.

1999 saw the change to the 420 class and the formation of a team with Nikolaus Resch as the forearm , and in 2001 the entry into the Olympic 49 class. 2000 succeeded the fourth place at the youth world championships in Sydney . Further successes include sixth place at the 2004 European Championships in Torbole , tenth place at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and second place at the Kieler Woche 2005. In 2007, he was runner-up in Cascais and in 2008 fourth at the European Championships in Palma .

Delle Karth graduated from BORG in 2003 with the Matura. He is a member of the Kufsteiner Yacht Club and trains as a competitive athlete in the Austrian Army Sports Association , his rank is platoon leader .

In March 2017 the team Nico Delle Karth / Nikolaus Resch split up.

Awards

In 2008 he received the Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .
