Nikolaus Friedrich Karl Joseph Prince of Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (born September 8, 1841 in Kupferzell , † October 23, 1886 in Waldenburg ) was a member of the House of Hohenlohe . Since 1884 he has held the title of Prince.

Life

Nikolaus was a son of Prince Friedrich Karl I Joseph and his wife Therese, Princess zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1816-1891), daughter of Prince Franz Joseph zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst. Nikolaus succeeded his father Friedrich Karl, who died early, in 1884 in his rights as a registrar . As a registrar, he was in possession of a mandate in the First Chamber of the Württemberg estates . Nikolaus Friedrich Karl zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst was an imperial-royal district commissioner and treasurer.

Until 1806, Kupferzell was the residence of the princes. Prince Friedrich Karl I still lived in the castle at times, after which it was empty. Nikolaus, the son and heir, who was still born here, wanted to sell the property, which did not materialize, so the castle was empty and fell into disrepair.

Prince Nikolaus belonged to the Roman Catholic Church and married Princess Sara Zsofia Esterházy de Galantha (born March 16, 1848 in Vienna; † February 22, 1885) in Vienna on July 6, 1869 . The couple had a daughter:

  • Sara Maria zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst (1885–1938), ⚭ 1913 Karl von Thun and Hohenstein 1883–1961.
