Nils M. Franke

Nils Magnus Franke (* 1971 ) is a German environmental and nature conservation historian .

Life

After managing the archive of the Foundation for the History of Nature Conservation in Königswinter, Franke has headed the Leipzig Scientific Office since 2005. He teaches at the Universities of Mainz, Geisenheim, Leipzig and Hamburg, researches the history of nature conservation and analyzes the development of concepts such as home, globalization and identity. He also deals with the history of pathology in Germany.

Franke completed his habilitation in 2016 at the University of Leipzig on the subject of "Romanticism as a basis of German nature conservation". He heads the Saxon section of the Federal Association of Professional Nature Conservation. V.
