Nils Glagau (born October 31, 1975 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German entrepreneur and investor . Since 2009 he has been the owner and one of the two managing directors of the family business Orthomol , a supplier of dietary supplements . He became known to a wider public in 2019 through his participation in the sixth season of the TV founder show The Lions' Den .

Life

origin

Glagau was born in 1975 in the Hochtaunus region and grew up in the Rhineland . In 1991 his father Kristian founded the company Orthomol with his friend, chemist Hans Dietl, which developed, manufactured and marketed micronutrients . After graduating from high school, Glagau studied ethnology with a focus on ancient American studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn and graduated with a master's degree . The Maya and Tibetan Buddhism were among his fields of work .

Career

Although Glagau initially had other professional plans, he completed various positions in the family business. After his father's death in 2009, he was appointed managing director along with his mother and older sister. In 2014 the two left the management again. Glagau is now responsible for marketing and sales, while Michael Schmidt, as the second managing director, takes care of regulatory matters and technical operations. For example, he relied on sponsoring the Bundesliga football club Fortuna Düsseldorf . He was also committed to Langenfeld , where Orthomol has its headquarters.

At the end of 2018 it was announced that Glagau was participating as an investor in the sixth season of the VOX series "The Lion's Cave". This fit in with Orthomol's declaration that it would increasingly invest in start-ups in the fields of nutrition, health and exercise.
