Nils Hauert

Nils Hauert (born July 15, 1983 ) is a Swiss roller hockey goalkeeper. Hauert grew up in Uttigen and spent most of his junior years at RSC Uttigen before moving to SC Thunerstern in 2001. In spring 2007 he signed a professional contract with the Italian Serie A top team Toyota Marcante Valdagno.

National successes

At the age of 18 he left the RSC Uttigen as a two-time NLA Swiss champion for SC Thunerstern, where he became U20 Swiss champion in the first year. In the 2005 season he was NLA Swiss champion with the SC Thunerstern. A year later he won the cup final against Biasca 1-0 with Thunerstern in Montreux. After his serious knee operation in February 2008, he had to end his still young career, but in 2009 he returned to the sport and received a new contract with his former club Thunerstern. After almost two years of injury, he returned to the NLA in Biasca at the end of November.

International success

At the age of 15 he was the goalkeeper of the U-17 Swiss national team. In 1999 he won his first international medal, a 4-0 win over Italy in the bronze medal.

In the summer of 2002 he was appointed to the national team. At the European Championships in Florence he reached 5th place with Switzerland. In La Roche sur Yon (4th place) he was again in the goal of the Swiss national team at a European Championship in 2004. He played the first world championship in 2005 in San José , California. After more than 35 years, Switzerland again reached a place in the top 5.

A year later he parried 4 penalties in the semifinals against former world champions Italy in a penalty shootout. Switzerland was in a European Championship final for the first time in 75 years. The greatest success in his still young career was the runner-up title in 2007 at the World Championships in Montreux. Through these international successes, the professional clubs abroad became aware of him. He received a professional contract with the Italian top club Toyota Marcante Valdagno. After almost two years of injury, Hauert returned to the sport. Only 18 months later he was again the goalkeeper in the national team and number 1 at the 2011 World Cup in San Juan Argentina.

Series A

In spring 2007 he signed a professional contract with the Italian Serie A top club Toyota Marcante Valdagno. The professional club from Veneto near Verona became aware of him through his strong appearances at the EM 2006 in Monza and the European Cup games with Thunerstern. But after only 6 months in Serie A, he had to return to Switzerland due to a very serious, complicated knee injury.
