Nina Catach

Nina Catach (born July 14, 1923 in Cairo , † 1997 in Paris ) was a French linguist and Romance scholar .

life and work

Nina Catach completed her habilitation in 1968 at the Sorbonne with the work L'orthographe française à l'époque de la Renaissance. Auteurs. Imprimeurs. Ateliers d'imprimerie (Geneva 1968). She founded the research group HESO (Histoire et structure des orthographes et systèmes d'écritures) and was the leading specialist in French orthography, past and present, for 30 years.
