Wayside shrine in Oberlaa

The niche picture stick “Christ on the Mount of Olives” is in the 10th  Viennese district of Favoriten , district of Oberlaa , on the corner of Laaer-Berg-Strasse and Friedhofstrasse (previously called “Hinterezeile”).

The listed picture pillar has a four-sided base, on top of which is a curved upper part of the same height with a cornice . Above the pillar is an attachment that is open on three sides. On the fourth closed niche back wall is a modern color mosaic with the scene of the Mount of Olives. There used to be a painting on sheet metal with the same motif. The tiled roof has a metal cross at the top.

The wayside shrine was probably created at the end of the 18th to the beginning of the 19th century, but it is no longer possible to determine with certainty whether there was a sacred object before that.
