Njord (oil field)

Njord is an oil field in the Northern European Sea . It is located off the Norwegian coast, about 130 kilometers northwest of Kristiansund and about 30 kilometers west of Draugen .

The field is cultivated by the Norwegian company Statoil . Because of the great depth one works there drilling and production platform in semi-submersible construction method:

In addition to the Njord A drilling platform , the Floatel Superior residential platform is in use, which serves as staff accommodation and offers space for smaller workshop work. On November 7, 2012, shortly before 4 a.m., an accident occurred on the living platform in which one of the four floating elements was struck by an anchor rope so that the platform began to lurch four degrees. The platform could be stabilized on the other side by water pumps about an hour later, but was evacuated anyway for safety reasons.
