NoCopyrightSounds , also No Copyright Sounds (abbreviated NCS ), is a UK-based music label . The published music can be used free of charge on YouTube and Twitch in compliance with your own usage guidelines ; these stipulate, among other things, that the author and the label must be indicated and that commercial use may require a license with costs .

Surname

If music from traditional music labels is used in videos on YouTube, it will be recognized by YouTube's automated Content ID system. This can lead to the video being automatically blocked or not or not all of the advertising revenue going to the web video producer. Web video producers who use music from NCS, however, do not receive a so-called copyright claim . Hence the name "NoCopyrightSounds". Copyrights exist for NCS music anyway.

concept

NCS publishes music on YouTube and SoundCloud that other web video producers can use for free in videos on YouTube and Twitch. In the description of the video or live stream, the name of the artist, the song title, NCS and a link to the original upload from NCS must be given. A master copy for this can be found in the description of the original video. It is not allowed to use it in videos that contain hate speech , illegal, disturbing or sexual content, or to simply re-upload or sell the original music.

history

NCS was started as a YouTube channel in 2011 by Manchester founder Billy Woodford . The label was described by Forbes as the first label on YouTube "that allows indie developers to freely use and even monetize their music as long as they give due credit to the content owners."

In 2017, NCS hit a milestone with more than one million downloads sold , despite publishing music for free.
