Nobel Peace Center

The Nobel Peace Center ( Norwegian Nobels Fredssenter ) is a Norwegian foundation established by the Norwegian Parliament on the occasion of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Norway's international sovereignty in 2000 and opened on June 11, 2005.
The foundation provides information about the Nobel Peace Prize , the winners and their work, as well as current trouble spots in the world and the commitment to peace.
The Foundation is based in Oslo West Station , the former West Railway Station, the City Hall Square in Oslo , opposite the City Hall , where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded. There are changing exhibitions in the old train hall and gallery. There are also lectures and conferences and films are shown.
After the opening, around 100,000 visitors came to the Peace Center in the course of 2005. The aim of the center is to encourage individuals to reflect and become involved by visiting the peace center.
