Nobody Home is a song by British rock band Pink Floyd from the 1979 concept album The Wall .

background

Nobody Home wasn't recorded until the album was almost finished. The reason for this was an argument between Waters and Gilmour and producer Bob Ezrin . In the end, Ezrin was able to convince Waters to write another song.

content

The album The Wall is about Pink , a fictional musician who built an imaginary wall to protect against emotional influences.

Here Pink describes life behind the completed wall. He now has no one to talk to and lives only on material things like his television and piano. The text also contains allusions to Syd Barrett and Wright.

music

The music in Nobody Home is soft, reserved and gloomy, fitting for Pink's desperate situation. Mason's drums are completely absent from the song, the only instruments being Gilmour's guitar and a Wright synthesizer, the latter of which was featured in the previous song, Is There Anybody Out There ? played the most important role.

Movie

The film shows Pink in Is There Anybody Out There ? He has cut eyebrows and stubble in front of the television, in between scenes from his childhood are faded in.
