Nominal morphology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The noun morphology of a language is the morphology of its nouns and noun phrases . The formation of the case and numbers of the noun and the structure of the noun phrase (order of its components) are described. The question of whether a nominal class system is used in a language , its structure and the use of prepositions and postpositions (generic term: adpositions ) is usually included in nominal morphology.

Furthermore, possessive markings on nouns (in certain languages) can also be counted as noun morphology.
